Wild in Art and Your Bromley, in collaboration, have organised a family-friendly, walkable trail around Bromley which features 12 snowmen sculptures, as a tribute to Raymond Briggs' classic The Snowman.
Since 2008, Wild in Art have brought cities to life around the world by creating programmes and events which resonate with one's youth, and bring communities together. Their 'Walking with the Snowman' trail is an event which is no different, capturing the message of youthful imagination and innocence present in Raymond Briggs' The Snowman.
Having already occurred in previous years in places such as North Tyneside and London Bridge City, the trail has now reached Bromley for the first time. In doing so, it has brought with it the much-needed Christmas spirit as part of Your Bromley's 'Unwrap Christmas in Bromley' events.
Since starting on the 17th November, many locals who have been to the Bromley town centre in the past few days may have noticed some of the Snowmen figures, seeing as they have been placed all over Bromley. These 12 snowmen figures themselves are an embodiment of not only the magical picture book The Snowman, but also the song 'The 12 days of Christmas', with each of the 12 snowman sculptures in the trail representing a different day.
In order to express a different day, each figure has been carefully and individually decorated by a whole host of professional artists such as Jessica Perrin and Jodie Silverman. Hence, anyone who gets to see such sculptures in person will recognise not only their beauty, but also the many alternating themes shared among the sculptures, such as those of adventure, friendship, and happiness.
The event has only recently begun in Bromley, and it will end on the 6th January 2022. Therefore, make sure to tour the Bromley town centre whilst the trail and its beautiful snowman sculptures are "still in town", in order to see for yourself all those themes, and feel the Christmas spirit.
