Mole Valley SCR guaranteed themselves an eighth placed finish this season, with a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Epsom & Ewell on Thursday night.
Valley started positively, and in the opening minute, Liam Holden fired wide, after being set free by Taylor Mollatt.
Epsom responded positively, and following a poorly timed tackle by Daryl Cooper-Smith, they went close with a low free kick.
Valley took the lead in only the 7th minute, Nick Wightwick played in Holden, and as Epsom & Ewell keeper Paul Borg advanced, he calmly lobbed into the net.
Minutes later, Borg showed why he highly rated throughout the league, with a stunning full length save off another Holden strike. Shortly after the Holden / Borg show continued, this time the keeper getting down well to his left.
Jayde Spence shanked a shot wide on 20 minutes, as Valley looked to turn the screw.
Epsom responded strongly, and Leigh Bowden was forced into an excellent point blank save. Epsom now had their best spell of the game, and two free headers in five minutes should have seen them level the scores, but both times they failed to find the target.
Having weathered the storm, Valley extended their lead on 36 minutes, Spence released Wightwick, and the young midfielder calmly fired passed Borg for 2-0.
Shortly before the interval, Epsom & Ewell were back in the game, when Ross Whyte picked up the ball about 30 yards out, and fired home passed a static Bowden.
Valley almost increased their lead on the stroke of half time, but after Wightwick's shot was blocked, Cooper-Smith's low drive struck both posts.
It was 3-1 five minutes into the second half, when Holden pressured the defender into a mistake, before cutting in from the right and crashing the ball home.
Minutes later it was 4-1, a great move involving Wightwick, Richard Smith and Holden, ended with Holden delivering a perfect cross for Cooper-Smith to head home.
With the wind picking up, the game became something of a midfield battle, when the players could actually see through the dust.
Epsom & Ewell had a spell of pressure, but were unable to test Bowden in the Valley goal.
In fact it was Valley who went closing to increasing their lead. Holden fired wide, whilst Smith had a shot well saved by the impressive Borg, after being released by substitute Richard Monan.
