Molesey went into their game at home on Saturday looking to build upon a good couple of weeks in which they beat Carshalton, Ash and Camberley.
Unfotunately, Molesey's recent bit of unpredictable form struck again and left the Moles frustrated through most of the game.
It was a game of very few chances and a majority of the game was played in the centre of the pitch where neither side could dominate the other.
Darius Heravi got Molesey first chance of the game after just two minutes but he couldn't his volley from a tight angle down and it flew well over the bar.
Moleseys next chance didn't come until the 18th minute when a free kick wasn't properly cleared and it eventually came to Joe Yeates who hooked it back into the middle.
Joe Pratley-Jones beat the defenders to the ball and touched it sideways to Darius Heravi who managed to flick it beyond the 'keeper and into the corner of the net.
A minute later the Moles nearly doubled their lead when McShane found Ashley Lodge with a great cross field ball. Lodge played it inside to Aimee Blessing but his shot was deflected wide.
However, Molesey were unable to capitalise on their domination and Dorking started to find their feet. This was shown in the 35th minute when Luke Reid forced Wester Young into a good save.
Then just before half time, Dorking hit their suckerpunch. A long free kick taken by John McBride managed to get through Joe Yeates and it fell to Jon Louizou who got just enough to force it past Wester Young.
The second half was a non-event for those who came to Walton Road looking for good football. The ball rarely left the midfield as the game descended into a scrappy encounter which suited Dorking much more than the Moles.
The Moles brought on Paul Cross, Farid Ibrahim-Zadeh and Marlon Rodney as they tried to turn the game back into their favour but still were unable to fashion any chances.
As the game entered its final stages Dorking were growing into the game and if anyone looked like snatching the three points it was going to be the side second bottom in the table.
And they had a perfect chance to take all three points when after very poor defending the ball came to Toby Fitzgibbon who volleyed from a yard out only to see the ball cannon back off the crossbar to safety.
The match ended 1-1, a result which neither side will be particularly happy with and Molesey will be looking to make things right in a couple of days when they play host to Chessington and Hook United.
