BLUES boss Thomas Tuchel has said he is confident that Rudiger could still agree to a new deal at Stamford Bridge.
The manager gave the update following his side's victory against Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup semi-final.
Rudiger's contract expires at the end of the season and he is currently free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with other clubs.
Real Madrid and PSG are said to be interested in signing the German international defender.
Tuchel told Sky Sports: “Of course, why not? We are confident. We have things to offer. He is the player, he is in a Chelsea shirt, in a Chelsea environment and he knows it well.”
Rudiger is out of contract at the end of the season and there has been much speculation about his future, but he maintains he is happy at the club.
He said on Sky Sports: “I am enjoying it. I think you have to see it about chapters, and I have enjoyed this chapter, I have enjoyed it so far. It is the best time of my career.”
Goalscorer Rudiger felt Chelsea deserved their win last night and thought Spurs only came back into the game because they allowed them to.
Rudiger told Sky Sports: “Over the two legs definitely. In the home game we were in total control of the game.
“In the second half, like today, they came back a bit. Today they were a bit more dangerous but it was because of our lack of focus, I would say.”
Of his goal, he added: “I just know it head my head and I was hoping it would go in, and it went in! It was good.
“It is good to help the team and be important. The most important thing for me is to lead by example.”
