Mitcham & Carshalton RFC were victorious in their first match of the season, beating the Civil Service Sports Council Barbarians at home 62-37 on Wednesday evening.
It was the first friendly Mitcham have played under a floodlit pitch and overpowered a strong Civil Service side. With aspirations of promotion back into Surrey, Mitcham put a good performance with fly half Paul Jones scoring four tries for Mitcham, and Luke Halford with Charlie Smee both scoring a brace.
Mitcham will be taking part in a friendly tournament this Saturday at Croydon Rugby Club and will be playing their first league match in Surrey 4 against Wandsworthians on September 23.
Mitcham are always looking to build their side and those who are interested should contact mcrfcsec@gmail.com or contact via the Facebook page.
