The Chief Guide, Gill Slocombe, recently said that ‘Girlguiding is where girls want to be’ and this proved true last weekend when some Guides from the County of Greater London West camped at Heyswood campsite to achieve their Camp permits to enable them to take their Guide patrols camping in future.

They cooked over log fires, made shelters, flag poles and camp gadgets enjoyed activities together and most of all had fun in their girl-only environment. Asked what they liked most about Guiding, they were all very positive with statements including “being with friends”, “being in the outdoors”, “doing things I would never be able to if it weren’t for Guides”, “learning new skills” …..

‘I think they all learnt a lot and enjoyed the freedom of planning their own weekend’ said Anne Wade, Camp Advisor.
