A man was killed after being struck by a train at Wimbledon Park station this morning.
The 23-year-old man, who has not yet been identified, had been struck by the eastbound District Line service travelling towards Southfields.
The incident, which was reported at 5.03am, meant the District Line was suspended between Wimbledon and Putney Bridge, with delays on the rest of the line.
A crew from Wimbledon fire station helped to remove the dead man from underneath the tube carriage by using jacks and hydraulic equipment.
A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: “London Ambulance Service medics attended but the man, believed to be 23-years-old, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident was reported to BTP at 5.03am and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.
“A file will be prepared for the Coroner.”
The service was resumed at about 7.30am.
