Dear all, What a long time it seems since last week when I commented on the nice weather!

Half term week has been fairly busy for us, we continue to supply officers to central London on aid prior to the Olympics whilst our local teams maintain their focus on driving down crime across the Borough.

I am pleased to say that we are still reducing crime across Merton that is most crime types with the exception of thefts from cars. So much of this crime is preventable, satnavs, mobile phones and cash have all been stolen from cars this week purely because they could be seen through the windows. This is such a simple thing to avoid, take things out of your car and don't leave them on show.

We know from talking to thieves that they literally walk around the borough looking for easy targets, things on display in a car and open windows in houses are like magnets to them. Simple things you could do will prevent you becoming a victim of crime.

With 2 weeks to go to the start of the tennis I have been continually looking at our numbers to ensure that we continue to deliver policing as normal as well as provide a safe and enjoyable championship. This year we will be providing live updates throughout the 2 weeks via twitter so if you are not following us please do to get very latest information.

I hope that you all have a good weekend, let's hope the sun makes a welcome return soon.

Darren
