A popular community activist dedicated to making his patch of Merton a better place was given a surprise 60th birthday party.
Keith Spears, founder of “Making Colliers Wood Happy” and the “Friends of Donald Hope library” was thrown the party at the library on Wednesday, May 16.
The Colliers Wood Residents' Association chairman was presented with a plank of wood found by the banks of the River Wandle with ceramic leaves based on actual leaves collected from Keith’s favourite places.
Mr Spears said: “I wasn’t planning to spend my 60th birthday in a library, but having said that, I can’t think of any better library to be in or any better group of friends to be with on such a special day!”
