Unique theatrical event ‘Journey to the Fifth Province’ completes its groundbreaking 14 date UK tour with a celebratory performance in Wimbledon.
Described by audiences as 'Enthralling', 'Glorious', 'Uplifting', the show played to a sell-out audience in SW19 last year - watch the video below.
Inspired by the special place of story and poetry in Irish tradition, actor Donal Cox leads us through life and the imagination; exceptional musician Steph West, Harper of all Britain 2009, provides thrilling music to accompany a journey to what W B Yeats called ‘the deep heart’s core’.
A feast of words and music, this show has something to say to everyone. Though Ireland today has just four distinct provinces writers have long made reference to a fifth located somewhere other than the everyday world. This show invites audiences - with or without an Irish background - to seek for themselves just what and where it might be. It takes a joyful and perceptive look at where we have come from, where we find ourselves now and what might inspire us as we face an uncertain future.
The Irish Embassy acknowledges the show’s value in reaching out to successive generations of Irish people who have uprooted to the UK, reconnecting them with their cultural roots.
The ‘Journey’ reaches South London Irish Association, 140 Hartfield Road, on Sunday 20 May 4pm, supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
