The prize-winning model horse which brought glory to Merton is being wheeled out for one last hurrah.
Mayor of Merton Councillor Gilli Lewis-Lavender is inviting residents to join her on April 21 in accompanying Merton Council’s prize-winning float Horsepower back to Wimbledon College of Art.
Horsepower came joint first with Westminster City Council in the 2012 New Year’s Day parade, earning £7,000 for the mayor’s charities.
It paid homage to the horse-drawn wagon of the Surrey Iron Railway in Merton – the first licensed public railway in the world.
Coun Lewis-Lavender said: “I’m extremely proud of this amazing horse made by our students.”
