A fanatical Dons fan is on the way back to Singapore today as part of a near 14,000 mile round trip to see AFC Wimbledon win promotion to the football league.
Dan Brown, a teacher who used to live in Putney but jetted out to Singapore with his wife in August, said he could not miss the team’s biggest ever game.
So he jumped on a plane scheduled to touch down in Manchester yesterday at 8am, before making his way to the City of Manchester stadium to watch the dramatic penalty shoot-out win over Luton Town.
After celebrating in Manchester overnight he was due to get back on a plane at 9am this morning to fly back to Singapore in time for work on Monday morning.
But he said the marathon trip was well worth it, after seeing his team secure its incredible fifth promotion in its nine-year existence.
He said: “He said: “It was a great day, well worth coming over.”
He added: “I heard someone had come over from Chicago – what a lightweight!”
