By Councillor Ian Dysart, Merton Council (Liberal Democrat, West Barnes ward)
I wanted to welcome the opening of a new Waitrose supermarket in Raynes Park this month.
Readers may be interested to hear of a Consumers’ Association survey of its subscribers conducted last October and November.
Waitrose achieved an overall customer score of 85% for its stores; ahead of Marks and Spencer, Aldi, Lidl , Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Tesco and the Co-Op, in that order.
It also scored 82% for its online performance, including delivery; marginally behind Ocado, but well ahead respectively of Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Asda.
I have also frequently heard people sing the praises of Waitrose when comparing and contrasting their perceptions of the various stores.
So, my message to Waitrose is please keep up the food work; expectations will be high and we don’t want to be disappointed!
