The Raynes Park Ward has suffered from six residential burglaries this year.
This figure depicts a 20 per cent decrease in comparison to the same time period last year.
Although Burglary figures are reduced in Raynes Park, Neighbouring Wards have seen an increase since the start of the year.
With proactive patrols being undertaken in these areas criminals may become displaced and move onto pastures new. I am sending this message to ensure you do everything possible to reduce the risk of becoming a burglary victim.
Please be mindful when leaving your premises, and ensure all windows and doors are double locked.
If you are away from the home for long periods of the day, consider using timer switches to operate radios and lamps to give the impression that someone is home.
As part of our continuing efforts to reduce the number of Burglary victims, your local safer neighbourhoods team will again be commencing a crime prevention initiative within the Ward.
We will be offering all residents the opportunity of having an officer visit them to conduct a crime prevention survey of their home's security.
The survey will take about 15 minutes and is free of charge. Based on notes that the officer takes, or on the specific advice you request, you will subsequently receive a full security report tailored to your requirements and which will set out a security standard for your home.
It is entirely at your discretion whether you act upon any of the advice that is offered, but if you do it will reduce the possibility of you becoming a victim of burglary.
Operational commitments permitting, your local safer neighbourhoods team will attend your address during the month of April to carry out your survey.
All officers will be in uniform and will produce proof of their identity if required. If you would like a member of the team to call round, please contact the team to arrange an appointment.
We are committed to reducing crime in the area and for this reason I would urge you to take advantage of the service we are offering to assist us in the fight against burglary.
To arrange an appointment for an officer to conduct a security surveym please contact the Raynes Park Safer Neighbourhoods Team on raynespark.snt@met.police.uk or 0208 721 2459.
