A fire on a bus on a road in Wimbledon this morning has led to road closures and several bus diversions – here’s the full list.
Emergency services were called to Wimbledon Hill Road this morning at around 7.20am to reports of a bus fire.
A 25-metre cordon has been put in place and the road is closed as the incident is dealt with.
The London Fire Brigade has confirmed that there were no reported injuries.
Several buses have also been put on diversion due to the road closure.
There are the bus diversions and road closures currently in place:
Road Closures
The A219 Wimbledon Hill Road is currently closed whilst emergency services are at the scene.
Currently, TfL is reporting minor delays on the approach to the closure.
The A219 Wimbledon Hill Road in both directions at the junction of Alwayne Road is blocked to the incident.
Bus Diversions
163, 164 and 219
The 163, 164 and 219 bus routes are currently not serving Francis Grove.
Buses towards Morden, Sutton or Clapham Junction are starting journeys at Wimbledon Station at Stop D on The Broadway.
57 and 131
The 57 and 131 buses are not serving the stops for Francis Grove (Stop M and Stop N).
Passengers are being advised to use the stops at Wimbledon Station instead.
200
The 200 bus route is on diversion between Wimbledon Station, Wimbledon Police Station and Copse Hill via Worple Road, Durham Road and Cottenham Park Road.
Buses are not serving these stops:
- Wimbledon Hill Road
- Wimbledon Village/Ridgway
- Wimbledon Telephone Exchange
- Edge Hill
- Arterberry Road
93 and 493
The 93 and 493 bus routes are on diversion, buses are not serving the stops for Wimbledon Hill Road (Stop R and Stop S).
The 493 is also not serving Francis Grove (Stop N).
Passengers are being advised to use stops on Wimbledon High Street or the stops at Wimbledon Station.
