A person has died after being hit by a train at Wimbledon station.
A casualty on the tracks was reported to police just before 12.10pm today (October 24).
Police and London Ambulance Service crews attended and a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
Thameslink confirmed that a major disruption between Wimbledon and Sutton is expected until 3pm.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to Wimbledon station at 12.07pm following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended however sadly a person has been pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
The full statement from Thameslink: “It is with great sadness that we report a person has been hit by a train between Wimbledon and Sutton.
“All lines are currently blocked between these stations whilst the emergency services work to deal with this incident.”
