An 18-year-old man was taken to hospital after he was stabbed in Mitcham yesterday afternoon (Thursday, November 11).
Reports of a heavy emergency services presence in the area surrounding Mitcham Fair Green emerged in the immediate aftermath of the stabbing, which happened on Thursday afternoon in the moments before 4.30pm.
Paramedics and police both attended and it was later confirmed that an 18-year-old had been taken to hospital after a stabbing.
A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service told the Wimbledon Times: "We were called at 4.26pm yesterday (11 November) to reports of a stabbing on London Road, Mitcham.
"We sent an ambulance crew, a medic in a car, a clinical team leader, an incident response officer, and an advanced paramedic.
"We treated a teenager at the scene and took them to a hospital as a priority."
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police, who are now investigating the stabbing, said: "Police were called at 16:25hrs on 11 November to London Road, Mitcham to reports of males fighting. Officers responded and found an 18-year-old man with a stab injury.
"He was taken to hospital, condition not life-threatening or life-changing. No arrests; enquiries are ongoing."
