A man was taken to hospital after he was injured in a crash involving a car and bus on Mitcham Common this evening (Tuesday, November 2).
Reports of a heavy emergency services presence, severe delays and halted traffic in both directions on Windmill Road, which runs through Mitcham Common, circulated on social media Tuesday evening.
It later emerged that the crash happened in the moments before the start of rush hour, around 4.37pm, when the emergency services were called.
Responding to a request from the Wimbledon Times, a spokesperson for the Met Police said:
"Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 16:37hrs on Tuesday, 2 November to reports of a collision involving a car and bus on Windmill Road in Mitcham.
"Emergency services attended. The driver of the car was taken to a south London hospital for treatment."
London Ambulance Service were contacted for comment.
