The London Fire Brigade has issued a smoking safety reminder after a man was rescued from a fire in Morden.
Firefighters rescued a man from a ground floor window in a converted three-roomed flat in Flaxley Road on Wednesday.
He was treated on the scene.
The fire is believed to have been accidental and caused by "smoking materials".
Part of the flat was damaged by the fire.
The Brigade was called at around 6.50am and the fire was under control by 7.10am.
Three engines and around 15 firefighters from Sutton and Wimbledon attended.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: "We'd rather you didn't smoke at all, but if you are a smoker it's absolutely vital you ensure your cigarette is completely out when you've finished smoking it.
"If you don't, you risk causing a fire which could not only destroy your home but also cost you your life."
