Emergency services responded to a car crash on Bishopsford Road in Morden this afternoon (Thursday, September 2) in which three people were injured.

Reports and images showing the aftermath of the crash surfaced on social media around 4pm.

Photographs taken at the scene on Bishopsford Road showed a heavy emergency services presence in the area, while an air ambulance was later pictured landing on a nearby green space.

Responding to a request from Wimbledon Times, a spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said they were called at 3.33pm:

"We were called at 3.33pm today (2 September) to reports of a road traffic collision involving two cars on Bishopsford Road, Morden.

"We sent an ambulance crew, an incident response officer, and a clinical team leader. We also dispatched London's Air Ambulance."

They added that three people had been injured in the reported crash, with one taken to hospital "as a priority":

"We treated three people at the scene and took one of them to hospital as a priority. The other two patients were discharged at the scene."

The Metropolitan Police meanwhile told the Wimbledon Times: 

"Police were called at approximately 15:35hrs on Thursday, 2 September following reports of a road traffic collision involving two cars in Bishopsford Road, Morden.

"Officers, London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance attended – the drive of one of the cars involved – a man, no further details, was taken to hospital for treatment. His condition is not thought to be life threatening.

"No reports of any other injuries.

"No arrests; enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing." 

London Fire Brigade were contacted for comment.
