A man has died after suffering serious injuries from a crash with a lorry this morning.
London Ambulance Service were called to reports of a traffic collision in London Road at around 8.11 am.
Eyewitnesses told the Wimbledon Times that they saw a scaffolding lorry at the scene.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We sent an ambulance crew, two paramedics in fast response cars, an advanced paramedic, and an incident response officer to the scene.
"We also dispatched a trauma team from London’s Air Ambulance, which consisted of a paramedic and a doctor in a car.
“The first medic arrived at the scene in less than four minutes.
“We treated a man for very serious injuries to his leg but despite the best efforts of our medics the patient sadly died at the scene.”
A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: "Firefighters were called to a road traffic collision on Linden Place in Mitcham this morning.
"A lorry collided with a pedestrian. Sadly, one man died at the scene.
"The Brigade was called at 08.16 and the incident was over for firefighters by 09.12.
"Two fire engines from Mitcham and Wimbledon fire stations and a fire rescue unit from Croydon Fire Station attended the scene."
