Deen City Farm is under threat of permanent closure unless it is able to raise vital funds.
Situated next to the River Wandle, Deen City has been forced to temporarily close due to the coronavirus outbreak.
As a charitable organisation, they rely on visitors’ donations. Yet, they can’t access any of the government funds or grants on offer presently because of their charitable status.
Now, without help, they will run out of funds.
Nick Golson, operations manager at the Farm, said: “Spring and Easter are our busiest times with children and local families visiting to see our lambs and chicks.
"It’s unlikely we will be open over Easter. The worry is, without funds we may never be able to open again.
“We have a Justgiving page up and running and are asking everyone, if you know the farm, have ever visited us or used any of our kid’s clubs or facilities, please donate what you can.
"Even a little, it will make a HUGE difference to keeping this valuable community farm alive.”
Deen City Farm is one of the capital’s oldest community farms.
For 40 years, they have been home to animals of all shapes and sizes and have enabled local people to take part in countryside activities, irrespective of their background, abilities or means – all for free.
