When Hall School Wimbledon was rated Inadequate by Ofsted in 2017, it was criticised for a lack of leadership, a failure to meet the needs of special needs students and an overall lac of health and safety policies.

But it was once again inspected earlier this year - the first inspection since a change of ownership to Chatsworth Schools - and the results were much different.

"The school’s new leaders, both at school and proprietorial level, have established themselves in a relatively short space of time," the Ofsted report read.

"They have evaluated the school’s strengths and aspects of its work that need to be improved.

"They have acted swiftly to address some health and safety concerns and to identify the school’s priorities. They have also introduced new systems of accountability across the school.

"The headteacher, senior leaders and proprietors have ensured that the independent school standards continue to be met, and also that legal requirements for the early years foundation stage are met."

Of the five categories judged by inspectors, the school was rated Good in four of them, with 'early years provision' earning the highest rating of Outstanding.

This was welcome news to headteacher of the school, Graeme Delaney.

"We are incredibly proud of our staff and pupils for their hard work and commitment, without which this Ofsted result would not have been possible," he said.

"So much has been achieved at HSW since September 2018, with further significant improvements planned for the months ahead in our continual drive for excellence."
