As we reach the longest day of the year, tennis fever is building in Wimbledon. With news that Andy Murray will play at the Queen’s Championship, it is increasing my hope that he will return to Wimbledon.

Admittedly, traffic will build, thus taking twice as long to drive to work and we will be stuck behind 100 tourists just to buy a G & T, but there is also that moment when the world is on your doorstep and they think your world is great.

Yes, I have suddenly found my inbox filled with new best friends confusing me for a Wimbledon tennis ticket tout and although I can’t wait to watch a few matches, it will be the social scene and tennis parties I’m just as excited about.

With my first party at the glamorous Cannizaro House hotel and a dress code of white or light, I can’t wait to see what everyone will be wearing. Tasting Hotel Du Vin’s new summer menu and drinks by Wimbledon Brewery, Sipsmith Gin and Seedlip there will be a feast to enjoy on the evening of the longest day of the year.

With only a few days respite, my next party will be at the Fire Stables in Wimbledon Village sponsored by Beefeater Gin, Aperol and my personal favourite, Wimbledon Brewery, who are often by my side at SW19 events.

I am fortunate to know the Cypriot owner of Ela London boutique, situated next to Harrods who choose a stunning outfit for me, whilst established milliners Edwina Ibbotson and Bee Smith always seem to match or clash my dress with suitable head attire. Stephen Young hair salon, tucked behind Coombe Lane parade always put up with my last minute hair crisis on the day of an event, whilst Becca Gray paints my tired eyes away from the previous week.

Only last week was the Colour House Theatre gala, where I met the new Mayor Mary Curtin and was delighted to hear Britain’s Got Talent finalist 2016 Wayne Woodward with his powerful voice singing ‘I’m feeling good’ to a stunning crowd. Even Nick Cotton, the bad boy from Eastenders, patron of the Colourhouse Theatre was enjoying the evening’s festivities.

However, my favourite part about this time of year is the local school fairs, my children love nothing more than spending their pocket money and my week’s earnings on the fun activities laid out on their school field. St Matthews Church of England School tucked away behind the allotments in West Wimbledon couldn’t have wished for more idyllic weather.

From last night’s networking event at Metro bank, today, I will visit the launch of the All England Lawn Tennis And Croquet Club’s (AELTC) first pop-up shop in Wimbledon Village. They will be selling a range of official products from clothing to rackets and bags. Like last year, I may ask to borrow a few giant pink tennis balls to adorn this week’s tennis parties. Although with most going missing, they may ask me to pay double!
