It's a double celebration for a Wimbledon nursery as both its sites have now been branded 'Outstanding' by Ofsted.
Wimbledon Day Nursery 2 in Montague Road, has just been awarded Ofsted’s highest grade following on from its sister nursery across the road which was given the award two years ago.
And management say it is all down to staff going the extra mile to help the children.
Emma Atters, manager and owner of Wimbledon Day Nursery said: “ We are delighted to be awarded outstanding by Ofsted, this is really the testament of the hard work of all the staff.”
The report commended the nursery for its “extremely passionate and high-quality care and education for all children” and mentioned that “staff use their expert knowledge to plan highly challenging activities, skilfully linked to children’s interests and next stage of development.”
The nursery received Outstanding in the following areas ‘Effectiveness of the leadership and management’, ‘Quality of teaching, learning and assessment’, ‘Personal Development, behaviour and welfare’ and ‘Outcomes for children’.
Emma set up the nursery ten years ago because she felt passionate about making sure children enjoyed their nursery years.
She said: “Childcare is very varied, across the board and I felt there was a lot of improvement needed ten years ago. I have put a lot of effort into the nursery. We are a family owned nursery, with our management and owner on site, dealing with questions that might arise daily. We care a lot.
“We believe in working closely with all families offering ongoing support and encourage continual improvement in the nursery life of all children.
“We are not just a number and we treat children like we would our own.”
The Nursery first registered for Ofsted in 2012. There are seventeen members of staff and provides for children from 3 months up to four years old.
