An excellent goalless draw against Bostik South side Faversham Town FC in the FA Cup means Croydon FC will be visiting the Shepherd Neame Stadium in Salter Lane for a replay on Tuesday night, writes Suniel Bhardwaj.
James Fotheringham became the first player-director to play for Croydon in the absence of Jamie McGeorgeghan at centre-back.
But it was the other centre-back, captain Nathan Campbell who together with goalkeeper Alex Hewitt got Croydon out of trouble, preventing anything that came their way with many clearances from Campbell and saves from Hewitt.
After an equal first half, Croydon seemed the better side, with several chances from Lauris Chin, saved by Faversham keeper Simon Overlord.
Overlord also tipped the ball over the bar after a shot from Matt Weller, and stopped a last minute chance from Jeff Duah-Kessie.
The Trams got their first League win at the Arena on Wednesday night with a 2-1 win over Rusthall.
Fiden Fejzi put the Trams in the lead and Dan Powell equalised for Rusthall with a penalty three minutes later.
It looked like a draw was inevitable but Croydon won thanks to a wonderful 63rd minute goal from Jamie McGeoghegan. The defender ran the length of the pitch, went past defenders and blasted the ball past goalkeeper Calum Christie.
Croydon's next home game is against Canterbury City on Saturday, August 26 with a 3pm kick off at Croydon Sports Arena. The Trams then take on AFC Croydon Athletic on Monday, August 28.
