An accountant of an Islamic awareness charity has been nominated for the Merton Community Award following decades of involvement with the borough.
Bangladeshi-born Mansoor Ahmad, who lives in Coniston Close, Raynes Park, has been involved with various schools and communities since he migrated to the U.K. in 2007, writes Luke Tinniswood.
He has served as a governor for both primary and secondary schools in the area and was heavily involved with the building of the children’s centre for Merton Abbey School on High Path.
Since then, he has been in charge of the accounts department at registered Islamic charity Al Shirkatul Islamiyyah.
Mr Ahmad said: “As a loyal and faithful citizen of the county, I have a great fascination to work together with the people for the overall development of the community.”
He was nominated by Abada Barbouche, who wrote: "Mr Ahmad assits in various charitable activities and supports mass people in general in the British community. He helps people at all times in crises and provides free advice to the community."
Nominate someone by voting online at www.wimbledonguardian.co.uk/mca or fill out a form in the Wimbledon Guardian newspaper. Nominations close on Friday, August 12.
