Adults and children alike may have been disappointed this morning to wake up to sleet and raw winds, rather than a sprinkling of snow. 

However, this is expected to clear this afternoon, turning into overcast skies and rain with highs of four degrees celcius. 

Looking ahead, Friday and Saturday will bring some winter sunshine, but be ready to wrap up warm in the evenings with Saturday expected to reach a low of minus two degrees. 

These wintery conditions are set to continue into Sunday, with fog predicted across the region and lows of minus one. 

But don't worry, there is a glimmer of hope as Wednesday is predicted to reach the balmy heights of six degrees celcius.
