With reference to the article in Wimbledon Guardian (Rehab at risk again, June 4) , I would like to say that when I was a councillor for Merton (2010 - 2014) I chaired the Healthier Community and Older People Scrutiny Committee.
The issue on the closure of Norfolk Lodge was brought up two years ago. I immediately set up an urgent meeting between the three stakeholders (Merton Council Adult Social Care, CCG and Mental Health Trust) and stopped this closure. It was then agreed to review and provide good alternative accommodation. It has been almost three years and still CCG and the trust has not come up with a firm decision. I am very surprised that to date, this matter has not been discussed in the Labour run Merton HCOP Scrutiny Committee.
