Discover your inner drummer with the thumping bass rhythms of the Yamato Drummers of Japan.
The Far Eastern tribe will perform its latest show, Bakuon, at a one-off performance at the New Wimbledon Theatre on Sunday, May 10.
The show reinterprets the ancient art of Japanese Taiko Drumming with athletic choreography and creative stage scenery.
"Taiko is a musical instrument deeply familiar to every Japanese person", says artistic director Masa Ogawa.
"Since the dawn of history, Taiko’s rich reverberations have filled people with inspiration and encouragement in a wide range of settings.
"We, the members of Yamato, believe in the unique value of Taiko. We are committed to preserving its traditions and exploring new possibilities for this majestic instrument.
Yamato play Wadaiko drums ranging from the size of a plate to more than a metre in diameter.
They include the Odaiko drum, hewn from one huge tree over four hundred years old.
Founded in 1993, the company has toured more than 50 countries and entertained more than five million people. Musicians will perform in Wimbledon as part of a nationwide tour.
