I would like to refute the allegation by Ms Schneider (‘Undemocratic for Merton councillors to defect to UKIP’) that UKIP blames immigrants for all our woes.
We do nothing of the kind.
The faults lie on the shoulders of the three parties - aka the Westminster bubble - who, without any mandate from the people, have given away powers to control our borders, and subjected the UK to whatever laws and regulations the foreign bureaucrats in Brussels think appropriate to impose on us, including our exposure to unlimited EU immigration.
We simply think that in all matters, not just how many people our already overcrowded land can accommodate, our governance should be the job of MPs in Westminster, accountable to the British electorate.
We joined the EEC for trading reasons - not to become a vassal state of a political monster in which we have less than 10 per cent say in how it operates, and one that drains us of £53 million a day, just to belong.
