Mitcham Park FC were rewarded for all their hard work in achieving FA Charter Standard status by receiving their commemorative plaque at Selhurst Park.

Chairman Mark Rogers and Secretary Brendan Sullivan - along with boys and girls from the Under-8s to Under-16s - were invited on to the pitch at half-time of Crystal Palace's match against Derby County on November 17 to be presented with their award.

Mitcham Park were granted FA Charter Standard status at the end of last season, an incredible achievement given they only came into existence in 2011.

The club have grown in this short space of time to include nine boys teams as well as one girls team, and as part of the FA Charter Standard Kitemark, all their coaches have the Level 1 Coaching Football Qualification and are First-Aid trained.

Given Mitcham Park's remarkable success over the last year, they are a great model of a well run club with great potential to be a major club in Surrey over the next few years.

Brendan said: "Thanks a million for a wonderful day - the boys and girls had a fantastic time and for most of it was their first experience of live football - and the warm hospitality was very welcome,."

And the match itself certainly didn't disappoint, with a Glenn Murray double and an Andre Moritz volley helping Palace to cement their position at the top of the Championship table.
