By Councillor Edith Macauley, Merton Council cabinet Member for Community Safety, Engagement and Equalities (Labour, Lavender Fields ward)
There has been some discussion about the military covenant in your letters pages recently.
I’d like to reassure your readers that the council is committed to supporting our armed forces.
We are committed to signing the Community Covenant but recognise that it is more than just a piece of paper; we want to do it properly.
We will be working with representatives of other public agencies and local organisations to develop commitments in the covenant that reflect local need and make a difference to serving armed forces staff, veterans and their families.
Make sure your voice is heard by sending your letter to: letters@wimbledonguardian.co.uk
