Full Fitness is getting active as part of the Change4Life campaign, a Government social-marketing initiative to increase the public’s awareness of the benefits of regular physical activity and an active lifestyle.
Inactivity and obesity-related illness cost the UK economy nearly £16 billion last year, and is likely to cost £50 billion by 2050. Becoming more active (the Government recommends 30 minutes of moderate exercise five times per week) would significantly decrease early mortality rates in the UK and save tax payers billions.
Change4Life includes a wide range of partners in the public and private sector including leading retailers, food and beverage manufacturers, national and local media, and physical activity groups.
Change4Life aims to get people to eat well, move more, and live longer particularly after the 2012 Olympic Games. Thousands of fitness facilities like Full Fitness are linking with their local communities to help achieve this goal.
As part of the local delivery for the Morden-Mitchen area, Full Fitness will be out in the community providing free health and fitness consultations and exercise advice as well as reducing their memberships for new members.
Full Fitness member, Jason Trusting, has lost 9 stone in 6 years. Jason said “I lost the weight through eating well and moving more and have recently joined the gym to push past a plateau and Jordan has really helped me. Exercise is fun now and I’ve never felt so good. I could never let myself go back to how I was before. I have made a lifestyle change and that enables me to maintain the results I have achieved.”
Until the end of October, Full Fitness will be teaming up with other local businesses in order to help as many people as possible eat well, move more and live longer.
