Wimbledon Common pub the Fox and Grapes has raised £133.50 for charity.

The pub held a competition to win a luxury picnic for two worth £45 which was generously supported by local punters. Would-be winners were asked to make a donation to Carers Support Merton in return for being in with a chance of bagging themselves a tasty prize. Winner Mr D. King was picked at random on Sunday September 9th during an evening event at the pub themed around the food and wine of Languedoc. The funds raised have been donated to the Young Carers Project run by Carers Support Merton.

Fox and Grapes manager Cedric Bosi said: “The work that Carers Support Merton does is amazing and we are delighted to support such a worthwhile charity in our local community.

“We want to thank everyone who made a donation. The money will go towards helping to change the lives of local young carers.”

A young carer is a child or young person under the age of 18 whose life is affected by caring for a family member with a physical or mental disability or long term illness. Carers Support Merton supports unpaid carers by providing them with information and advice and offering individual and group support and respite activities.
