Here's how we rated Brentford's players following their defeat to Reading.

Luke Daniels - 6 - Hard to blame him for either of the goals. Meite deserves credit for the finish and the header from the free-kick would catch most goalkeepers off-guard. Had a busy day between the sticks.
Henrik Dalsgaard - 6.5 - One of Brentford's better performers on the day, I thought. Got forward often and, when he did, was a threat. Has to be cautioned with mixed accuracy in his crossing but was still a bit danger.
Mads Bech Sorensen - 5.5 - Reading knew what they were doing with direct balls into Brentford's defence, and it did have an effect. Sorensen did struggle against it and was booked for a reckless foul late on.
Julian Jeanvier - 5.5 - Appeared that Jeanvier and one of his team-mates miscommunicated on the Reading free-kick which led to their second goal. Looked shaky in the early stages but got better thereafter.
Ezri Konsa - 5.5 - Like Jeanvier and Sorensen, he got tested by those long balls into the defence. Sometimes they paid off against Konsa. A bit lucky when Oliveira's header went over the bar. Improved following the goals.
Moses Odubajo - 6 - Was fairly active and involved early on going forward, however, that began to fade a little as Meite was becoming a major problem. Got caught the wrong side of his man on a couple occasions but still effective. Replaced by Forss.
Josh Dasilva - 6 - Not bad, a decent showing. Made some smart interceptions but was quiet otherwise in his passing. Replaced by Emiliano Marcondes.

Romaine Sawyers - 6.5 - Like Dalsgaard he was one of the Bees' better performers. Did the simple things well, as per usual, and was the anchor in their central midfield.
Said Benrahma - 5 - Not his best game by any stretch. Lost the ball under fairly little pressure, wasteful on it, and set-piece deliveries were pretty mediocre. Hobbled off the pitch to be replaced by Canós.
Ollie Watkins - 6 - Similarly quiet like Benrahma, had flickers of moments. Played a very nice reverse pass into Canós that forced a good save out of the goalkeeper. Little scoring chances to note from him, though.
Neal Maupay - 6.5 - Got a goal through very fortunate circumstances, however, it was his instincts that got him it. Ran the hard yards up top and was Brentford's usual focus point.
