Epsom and Ewell’s FA Cup dreams were left in tatters on Sunday as they lost 2-1 to Chipstead in the preliminary round, writes Hamish Mackay.
The Salts were forced to field an under strength side with a minor injury crisis engulfing the club and were unable to match their Ryman Division One South counterparts.
Chipstead scored goals either side of half-time and although Jamie Summers’ headed in late on, it proved to be just a consolation.
The club now turn their attentions to the FA Vase and travel to Hailsham Town on Saturday in the first qualifying round.
Banstead Athletic dreams of Wembley glory are still alive though after they beat Arundel 3-1 on Saturday to set up a first qualifying round tie at home to Maidstone United on September 17.
