A ladies-only dinner at one of Europe’s largest mosques to mark the advancements of women as part of an interfaith event in Morden.
The event coincided with National Interfaith Week and was held between the Ahmadiyya Muslim community and attendees from the Sikh faith at the Baitul Futuh mosque in London Road, Morden, on November 19.
Over dinner the ladies discussed how open and genuine dialogue can pave the way for peace and understanding in today’s world.
Addressing the 88 women in attendance, Mayor of Merton Marsie Skeete said: “You have empowered me as women tonight.
“Never forget, women can do anything, and they are doing it.
“They are mayors, solicitors, teachers and mothers.”
The event was made possible by 50 volunteers and attendees were invited to engage in a dialogue of religious understanding, sisterhood, diversity and commonality.
