A car was set ablaze this afternoon outside a pub.
Passersby reported hearing a loud noise outside Raynes Park Tavern in Coombe Lane, opposite Raynes Park station, where the car was seen on fire.
An eyewitness said: “I was talking to some other bystanders and they said they saw the car stop and a guy got out and started trying to push it around the corner.
“Some guys went over and said ‘your car is on fire’.
“It caught on fire pretty quickly.
“I’m not sure he realised how bad the problem was.
“The tyres started blowing up.
“When they heat up they explode and it was like a sharp bang as if a firework was going off.
“When the fire engine arrived they got it under control pretty quickly.
“I don’t think anyone was hurt at all."
